Nomad Tools has a simple household pricing model: free manual planning tools, with paid tiers for AI, automatic bank sync, and offline access.
Most of Nomad Tools is not AI. The day-counting, tax planning, housing, border, trip, and money tools are the free core. Paid tiers add the features that have real operating cost or premium convenience: AI-powered workflows, Plaid bank and brokerage sync, and offline household data caching.
Every plan covers your whole household — up to 4 people — for one price.
Beta status: the Free, BYOK, Plus, and Pro feature gates are built in the app for testing. Self-serve checkout, card billing, and the customer billing portal are not live yet.

Linked-account limits count individual accounts, not institutions. One bank login with checking, savings, and brokerage accounts counts as three.

Questions
What is the Free plan?
All of the tracking and planning tools, with manual data entry, at no cost. AI features, automatic bank & brokerage sync, and offline data caching are the things reserved for paid tiers.
What is BYOK ($6/month)?
Bring Your Own Key. You connect your own Anthropic or OpenAI API key and the AI features run on it — you pay the provider directly for what you use. It is the lowest-price way to get AI features, automatic bank sync, and offline access. Plus and Pro instead include AI on the platform key, with nothing to set up.
What is the fair-use AI limit on Plus and Pro?
Plus and Pro include AI up to a daily limit designed to cover normal use. If you ever reach it, AI pauses until the next day while the rest of the app keeps working — or move up to Pro for a higher limit, or use BYOK to run AI on your own provider key.
How many bank or brokerage accounts can I link?
Free is manual entry only (no linked accounts). Paid tiers link up to 6 accounts on BYOK, 12 on Plus, and 30 on Pro — roughly your plan price in accounts. Limits count individual accounts, not institutions, and are per household.
Can I change plans?
Yes — once billing self-service is live, you’ll be able to move between Free, BYOK, Plus and Pro.
Monthly or annual?
Paid tiers are designed for monthly and annual billing; annual billing is planned to save roughly two months compared with paying monthly.
When does billing start?
Nomad Tools is in invite-only beta and paid plans are not switched on through self-serve billing yet. The Free tier and the paid-tier feature gates are already in the app for testing; join the waitlist and we’ll bring you in as capacity opens.
